Elaine retires after 24 years...

Elaine Wayne retires this week after a lifetime working as an Optical Assistant. Most patients will have met her especially as she’s worked at the practice with Liz and Tom since opening over 24 years ago.

She’s done everything from answering the phone to book appointments, adjusting glasses, glaucoma screening and scans to dispensing; she’s helped choose frame ranges from manufacturers and attended 100’s of staff meetings. She’s often been the first to arrive and the last to leave.

She has worked through the practice moving from paper records, lightbox test charts, puff of air tests and rulers to measure glasses to full computerisation, digital testing, eye canning and full face measurements using the latest technology on an I Pad.

Patient’s dispensed by Elaine have said how much they appreciate her calm and thorough approach; how knowledgeable she is on the products and the time she takes to explain what’s available to meet their needs.

She’s seen frame styles change from NHS glasses to 80’s frames, 90’s round eyes, rimless to today.

We would like to thank her for the hard work and dedication to the business. All staff have said how much they’re going to miss her and want to wish her a wonderful retirement. Who knows, we may even be able to persuade her to come back occasionally to do some holiday cover.

Thanks Elaine. X

Wishing you all the best, Elaine! You’ve been the friendly face and steady hand behind so many successful visits. It’s rare to find someone who’s worked through every wave of technology and trend, all while keeping that personal touch. Now it’s your time to relax—or maybe take up a new challenge like trying to beat Clubstep in Geometry Dash Lite!
